2006 - 2007 American History Essay Contest

Topic: “Jamestown Colony is Settled”

To help commemorate the 400th anniversarty of the founding of Jamestown, take on the persona of one of the early settlers. Write a letter to your family members who remained in England, and tell them about the activities and hardships involved with helping to establish the settlement. In your letter, be sure to include information about your fellow settlers, as well.

Participants: All grade 5, 6, 7 and 8 students. Do not submit a photograph with the entry. Call the

WCFS office for specific information.

 

2006 Henty Essay Contest

Topic: “How G.A. Henty’s works remind us of God’s providence throughout history”

Contestants are encouraged to demonstrate that they have carefully read at least five of the novels, and to draw from such in their essay.

We are asking students ages 18 and younger to submit an essay of fifteen hundred words or less.
